How do I Volunteer?

Street Angels York Launched on the 16th October and we are recruiting volunteers for the November training sessions now. To apply simply Download the Application Pack and send it to the address quoted on the form (includes references and CRB check).

Who can be a Street Angel?

At the heart of Street Angels York is the desire to love, care for and bless our city. The key qualities needed to be a Street Angel are:

  • commitment
  • honesty
  • being non-judgemental
  • good people skills
  • a team player
  • compassion for those in need

How old must I be?

Street Angels York welcomes volunteers of all ages, from 18 upwards, with no maximum age!

What is the time commitment?

One Friday or Saturday evening a month from 9:30 pm till 3am. This will work on a rota basis.

Is there training?

To be a Street Angel you need to complete our introductory training course. The training will cover topics such as roles and responsibilities, personal safety, drugs and alcohol, homelessness and relating effectively.

The training will be from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm with lunch and refreshments provided. Venue to be confirmed.

Saturday 27th February – Conflict management
Saturday 6th March –  Drugs and Alcohol with Compass One
Saturday 13th March – Homelessness with the Salvation Army
Role of British Transport Police
Police Briefing with North Yorkshire Police

We have received some funding from the Safer York Partnership but we are asking for a voluntary contribution of £50 to go toward the costs of training and Street Angels York jackets.

Our priority is that volunteers are safe and well equipped.
