YKSoul event raised £700!
by Jennifer on Oct.21, 2011, under News
Once again a great big thank you from all at YKSoul and Street Angels York, to those who attended and supported the Charity Soul Night on Friday 7th Oct 2011 at the Post Office Club, York. A total of over £700 was raised.
YKSoul would like to give a special thanks to both Mitrefinch for lending us a projector and to Mick Burnett for lending us the decks and the sound system for the night. Very much appreciated.
Thanks also to the Heather, Jennifer, Rob and their fellow Street Angels for staffing the entrance all night, they really took to the task and enjoyed their night. Heather gave a brief speech and thanked everyone for their support and efforts in contributing to an excellent night.
YKSoul has now raised well over £ 53,000 for various charities, and as long as they have the support like they had on this night they will continue to do so. It was almost a sell-out and the people who attended the event loved every minute of it.

Training off to a great start!
by Jennifer on Oct.04, 2010, under News
We have completed the first of our three day training course with 12 new volunteers looking to join the team. We had a great morning hearing about the services available to the homeless in York with Jeremy the founder of the Arc Light and Tim the resettlement service manager from the council. In the afternoon we had a thorough briefing from the police looking at licensing laws and regulations, how we can work together and an introduction to some of the challenges we may face.
It was great getting to meet all the new volunteers from all over the city and of all ages from students to pensioners!
We are looking forward to the drugs and alcohol training with YACRO this Saturday and the conflict management on the 16th October.

On Friday night we were accompanied by the Bishop Of Selby for the evening, it was great to have him come along and see what Street Angels York is about.
Street Angel Rob said this,
“It was encouraging to have him join us for the evening, his attitude and heart for the people we met was a great example to follow.”
